PEARL RIVER, NEW YORK, November 27, 2007–In an ongoing effort to enhance the ability to assist existing and emerging small businesses in the community, SCORE CEO, Kenneth Yancey, announced Mark D. Rothenberg, as its new district director for the Lower Hudson Valley and Long Island Region–District 202.

In this position, Rothenberg will coordinate with area chapters to manage and expand the Region’s small business counseling, workshop and resource development programs.

Yancey said, “Selecting Mr. Rothenberg as district director will have a very positive impact on the services SCORE provides in the Lower Hudson Valley and Long Island.” He added, “He has shown continued dedication, not only to the mission of SCORE, but also to the health of the Region’s business community. His investment in promoting the level of service that SCORE offers to small businesses will truly be an asset.”

Rothenberg has been with SCORE since 2003. He was a charter member and the first Chair of the Rockland County Chapter. In 2006, he became assistant district director. He has over forty years of business, management and operational experience in retail and distribution on Long Island, and formerly served as Chief Operating Officer of United Water New York.

Currently, he serves on the Boards of Rockland Economic Development Corporation (REDC) and Leadership Rockland. Previously, he served as Chair of both organizations, respectively. In addition, he is a Trustee of Bon Secours Charity Health System and Chair of its Audit Committee.

SCORE’s Lower Hudson Valley and Long Island Region includes 12 chapters and branches that reach thousands of entrepreneurs annually through face-to-face and online counseling, and a series of business workshops. The district’s more than 200 volunteer counselors each have a minimum of ten years of business knowledge, with a wide range of expertise.

Since 1964, SCORE “Counselors to America’s Small Business” has assisted more than 7.8 million aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners through counseling, mentoring and business workshops. More than 10,500 volunteer business counselors in 389 chapters serve their communities through entrepreneurial education dedicated to the formation, growth and success of small businesses.
